How does
Exitzero work?

02

Pair host

Once registered, you can generate a host within Exitzero. To establish the connection between our backend and your machine, ExitZero generates an installation command that you have to copy and paste into the terminal of your Linux machine. This command downloads and installs the Exitzero agent binary. The .NET agent then establishes a secure socket connection with the Exitzero backend, ensuring secure communication for subsequent operations.

01

Registration

Exitzero is based on a .NET backend that handles user authentication, data storage, server management, and communication. For user authentication, you may use the built-in authentication platform or Google Single Sign-On.

03

Install service

Once your machine is connected, you can proceed to installation from a list of available Linux services, select the host for the installation, choose the desired version, and configure other software-specific parameters. The installation process is handled by a Python installer, which is invoked by the ExitZero agent. The agent passes the required parameters to the installer, which then performs the necessary actions.

Is Exitzero secure?

The Exitzero agent only runs shasum-verified commands from the backend. Encrypted sockets prevent tampering or snooping of data in transit. No additional firewall rules for incoming traffic are required, which eliminates attack surfaces.
Credentials and server information are securely stored in the backend database following best practices. This architecture significantly reduces risks of compromise through misconfiguration by allowing remote management without requiring technical knowledge from the user.
That said, yes, Exitzero is safe and secure, and we are certain you’re going to enjoy our simple-to-use solution. :)
